Calcagno

The northern foothills of volcanic Etna have historically produced the best wines in the area. At an altitude of almost 800 meters, the Calcagno family has been producing excellent wines from typical varieties (Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio) for more than 40 years, which in their color and intensity can resemble some Burgundy wines. Their work with the white Carricante variety is also very interesting. Their style is highly mineral, dry wines that make you want to lift your glass and take another sip after the first one. The Arcuria vineyard is one of the oldest in the area, and its almost 90 years of age are definitely felt in the wines that come from it.
